When You’re Ready, It Arrives

Not Asked For, But Meant to Be

What is meant for you finds its way—almost like it had been walking toward you the whole time.

Some things don’t arrive because we hustle for them. They arrive because we’re ready. Because something in us—quietly, sincerely—called them in, long before we knew what we were asking for.

This is the story of how a gong came into my life.

Not because I chased it.

Not because I knew how to use one.

But because it was time.

When I moved to the desert, everything was strange in a way that felt familiar. The air was dry, the sun sharp, and the silence had weight. I began going to a local yoga studio. One experience in particular deeply stayed with me: a gong bath. I didn’t know much about gongs then, but I felt it deeply in my body. Something about that sound stirred something ancient in me. I remember thinking, "This could be one of my tools."

Of course, gongs aren’t cheap. At the time, I had just bought a house. There were too many adult things to take care of—utilities, repairs, the kind of expenses that pile up invisibly until you feel their weight in your chest.

Still, I remember saying to the man I was dating then, "I wish someone would give me a gong." He laughed the way people do when they think you’re being dreamy. "Who would give you something that expensive for free?"

I didn’t argue. I just smiled and let the wish float there.

A couple of years passed. I kept doing breathwork, kept listening to what called me. I began studying sound healing in earnest, not thinking much about gongs anymore—but still feeling a quiet pull toward sound. Then one day, out of nowhere, a friend I had met through a breathwork training messaged me. She was downsizing her home and asked, "Would you want my 38-inch planetary gong?"

I didn’t ask why. I said yes.

It came at a time when I was ready—not just logistically, but energetically. My practice was deepening. I wanted to make healing more accessible, to offer something powerful without raising the cost for those who came to me. Because the gong came as a gift, I didn’t have to pass that cost on. It arrived as if it knew I would hold it with care and love.

People talk about manifestation as if it’s a technique. But sometimes, things happen when we are quietly aligned. You soften. You stay open. And what is meant for you finds its way, almost like it had been walking toward you the whole time.
